Money Money Money

I am only on month 1 and a half at my new job and I have to say again what a relife it is to be making the salary I deserve. It has enabled me to do things I couldn't dream of doing before.

I am going to schedule myself an appointment with a podiatrist so I can get new orthotic inserts for my shoes fucking finally. I won't be in pain anymore from having 16 year old inserts.

I will buy my mom a new TV so she can enjoy HD.
I will buy my brother in law a new TV so he won't ruin his eye sight while playing games anymore.
I want to explore my investment options since I don't have a 401K anymore. I will finally, after 3 years of waiting, buy parts for a new computer system. I will get a new car after 4 or 5 years of driving my exisitng car. I love my car, but it is time for a change. I have my wedding to pay for. Ultimately I want to pay down and off my student loans in their entirety. That will be about 300 dollars a month that I will get back. Then finally, finally I will start bulk saving. I will save gobs and gobs of my money for a big fucking rainy day. Then if I feel like it, I might buy a home, but only if I feel like it. I am sticking to my plan like I always have been. I am not going to be an irresponsible fuck and blow my money on stupid and worthless things. I am not going to show off my wealth to others by purchasing gaudy expensive things. I am going to remain outwardly humble, but I am going to celebrate within. Finally, my hard work has paid off in phase 1 of my plan for success. People told me taking out student loans was a bad idea, well look at me now, I can pay off my student loans in 2 years if I want to. Phase 2 of my plan for success is going into business for myself and making a name for myself. I will take some of my ideas and finally make them tangible, no more distractions. No more bullshit joint effort ideas from other people. No more sharing. I am in this for myself and anyone I am bringing into the picture will be an employee unless I have a change of heart. I have learned from past experiences, working on an idea with friends is generally a bad idea. Don't do it unless you don't mind losing a friend.

Rich Bitches

I was driving to work when I was waiting at a red light to transition to green so I could continue my day. I noticed behind me was a giant black Mercedes SUV with a blonde in it. This is definitely not uncommon in Miami of all places. You have a lot of daddy's girls and rich old men who want to be daddy's girl. I was watching this bimbo in my rear view mirror and I couldn't help to notice that she couldn't stop fidgiting!

She kept moving around, she wouldn't sit still. She had her hands in her hair at various times, combing it and teasing it. Flopping all over the place. At one point, like a dog, she started to comb the hell out of just one section of the tips of her hair like there was something in it. Then she stopped combing and was looking around, outside, in the mirrors, inside, then back to the hair...

Wow... must be nice not to have shit to do all day. She looked like she was on some shit, bouncing around like that for the length of a red light. I just found that to be interesting is all. That and I hate rich bitches. Worthless, brainless, trophy wives are not anywhere remotely attractive to me as intelligent women are.

Watch For Motorcycles! ...as they BREAK the LAW

Watch For Motorcycles! ...as they BREAK the LAW
They don't put that last part on the fucking stickers. I am tired of seeing all these people out there with "Watch For Motorcycles" bumper stickers, like it is supposed make me feel better about getting cut off on the highway by some pop-wheeling asshole. For fuck's sake it isn't fair that when I am stuck in traffic I see some asshole on a Kawasaki Ninja driving between the lanes. I have been tempted on several occasions to just swing open my door as I see them do it so they learn a fucking lesson about driving between the lanes. The same goes for when there is a band of two to as much as ten motorcyclists ruling the highway. It makes you want to hit them with your car because they are driving like assholes. Weaving in and out of lanes with inches to spare between cars is NOT safe obviously and more FRUSTRATING than anything. So yeah, if it makes me mad and I am relatively stable, how about the fuckers who are CRAAAZY might just want to slam on the breaks to knock motorcyclists over for fun and watch them die? So take the stick and shove it. I know that sticker only applies to Motorcyclists actually following the law, but it is self defeating when you have all of these other assholes on the road.

I think it is most insulting when some douche bag (male or female) on a Vespa or Vespa like two wheeled vehicle cuts in front of you while you are trying to get to work on time. Then just to have some asshole in front of you that is A. Driving too slowly sometimes and B. Is more dodgy so they shit between lanes in a split instance so you are constantly breaking because you are WATCHING FOR MOTORCYCLES. Well no thank you, I think that if someone is going to ride a motorcycle like a juvenile asshole, then they can die a young death when they think they are faster than a 2 ton 4 wheeled machine.

The same shit goes for any motorist that is in a 4 wheeled vehicle, if you get into a shitty accident because you think you can maneuver through everyone and everything without causing danger then you earn what you get whether it is death or a full body cast. I am mostly talking about assholes who drive their SUVs like they are war tanks, people in supped up Rice Burners, the VW Bug Crowd and the jerks in the Mini Coopers. Fuck you people. And a mega fuck you to the people in the Audis, Mercedes and Beemers on I95 South. Like I drive 80 mph usually, but holy Christ, the clubs on South Beach, Downtown and the Grove aren't going to close, slow the fuck down.

I think I would pay good money to see the assholes in South Miami who ride their motorcycles with different colored Mohawks on their helmets and ride like douche bags get crushed by an eighteen wheeler. Just being honest. I got really excited once when I thought I saw one get mowed down on the Turn Pike, just turned out it was someone else...

Budweiser Still Sucks

First thing's first, you should watch this link from Jest.com because it is hilarious.

Budweiser sucks real bad and taking a page out of Stone Brewery's Arrogant Bastard book (the text on the back of the bottle) no amount of overly expensive ad campaigns will make yellow fizzy water into beer or make it taste good. Fuck you Budweiser (and Miller and Coors) your beer makes me feel ashamed to be American. It is fucking embarrassing to hear people from other countries (England, Australia, Belgium etc...) bring up how pathetic and disgusting our American Budweiser is... I feel the worst for Soccer (Futbol) fans because in their stadiums I believe Budweiser has a contract with several stadiums for selling Budweiser exclusively. That is like people who are used to drinking Coca-Cola in their stadium being forced to drink shitty RC-Cola.

Well the fight will press on, one day I hope Budweiser corporation realizes that their beer is terrible and the only reason you can drink it on the job is because it is closer to water than anything else.

Google Calendar + Web Enabled Phone = Genius

For the longest time I have been having problems getting organized whether it was during the week or during the weekend, I was not getting through my long list of tasks. The vicious cycle would be that I would go through the week without thinking about or planning my weekend, the weekend would arrive and I would ask myself the same stupid thing each weekend "What am I supposed to be doing today?" Then I would ponder this for a good chunk of the day and next thing I know the day is over. The same thing would happen to me Saturday and Sunday. This went on for too long, I am actually sort of embarassed to admit the duration, but I think it happened like that because I would be so burnt out from the week I just couldn't think on the weekend.

I got my new phone, the LG myTouchQ C800, with a data plan and for some idiotic reason I never realized that I could use google calendar in conjunction with my phone... so I blame myself for that. I used to use a paper calendar/organizer, but my number one problem was remembering to look at the fucking thing. So now I am using 2 widgets, google calendar and my phone to remember what it is I am doing each day. This has increased my productivity about 10 fold and it just makes me happy that I am getting shit done!

So I recommend using google calendar with your phone so you can plan your months in advance and you won't forget anything again really.

Say What You Mean

Why is it so difficuilt for people to just say what they mean? It usually depends on the topic of course, but I can tell you this much without a doubt in my mind, plenty of misunderstandings would and can be avoided if people would seriously just say exactly what they mean to say.

Now being less vague about what I am referring to (I am going to say what I mean! You see!) I often find that people like to rely on inferrence and like to imply things instead of being explicit. This is a bad habit in my opinion because it leads to miscommunication or misunderstanding which can result in error; and ultimately possibly end in hatred or anger. Since that is the case I think it makes more sense to be explicit rather than implicit. This mirrors my philosophy on programming languages by the way, better to be strongly typed (explicit) rather than to be dynamically typed (implicit).

The only time it is okay to imply something is when it doesn't matter or when you are on such a personal and healthy level with someone they will understand what you mean simply by the look on your face, the gloss of your eyes, squint, grunt or whichever manorism that you may posess. My mother and I can communicate by looking at each other, we can say whole sentences by a glance or hand gesture. That is implied communication. I do the same with some friends and I do this plenty with my wife. I have a hard time speaking in the morning because of my breathing problems. My throat usually feels like it is on fire in the morning so I don't want to talk to anyone, I will glance, point and grunt usually.

I don't like being lead on or taken for a ride when someone can just be frank with me and tell me what they really mean or want to say. I find it more valuable for someone to be 100% honest rather than was my time. Essentially when people don't get straight to the point, it means they are intentionally or unintentionally witholding crucial information from you. An example of unintentional is when you are reading a crappy text book that won't teach you the lesson you so desire to learn, instead it throws in useless nonsense about history of what you want to learn instead of flat out teaching you. An example of intentional is when you are speaking to someone and they have something you need, such as a crucial piece of information in order for you to do your job, but instead of just telling you what it is you have to deal with 50 questions, blank stares, a story of bullshit or some equivallent bout of annoyance.

Treasury Direct

This government run site is pretty cool, love the idea, I am learning how to use it but I have a few complaints about it. First thing is, the site itself is not friendly, it is actually more hardcore than a banking site in terms of login security and the session itself. However I have found myself kicked out of the site more than 3 times in a single session easily because the links on the site would be broken or there would be a technical problem of sorts.
This site is a little short of irritating. It is fantastic because it let's me purchase government securities rather easily, but it doesn't explain any of them well enough where it counts. For example I bought a 4 week bill at 0% by mistake, I wasn't sure how to check the current interest rate on the bill before buying. After doing some digging I figured it out but too little too late. This is a good example of why the site isn't that great. I should be told what I am buying before I buy it.
Another example is EE and I Savings Bonds. When you are purchasing them there is no information on the rate of return and worst of all it doesn't tell you this juicy piece of information:
Savings Bonds cannot be redeemed until after a year (12 Months) and if you redeem them before 5 Years you lose 3 Months of your current interest.
Geeeee... that is something I would like to know BEFORE buying a savings bond. I had to dig around the site in order to find that information along with the goddamn rate of return.
So yes, great site for purchasing government backed securities. Terrible site for logic. I give them a 5/10 rating, but B+ for effort. If you want someone to use your site without pulling their hair out you should seriously consider doing some QA with real Americans first. Not gubbment drones. That is what feels like happened here.
