Bad times are a brewing. One of my co-workers has got one foot out the door already and he doesn't even know it. If he gets let go I am not sure what I am going to do or how I am going to react. This is a sad sad situation and the worst part is he brought it on himself. He is to blame, he is a great guy, but he lacks skill and slacks off a looooooot.
Here is the reality, he under performed. Nice guy or not, he fucked himself. The next question is can we save him? The only way is if he is willing to understand that he is wrong and needs to learn the right way to do things.
