Another Example of Tolerated Speech

I have another good real world example of tolerated speech. The company I work for recently sent us a memo describing what we can/cannot say or do with respect to social media. Essentially it can be boiled down to, "If you work for us, you are not allowed to have an opinion that will make us look bad or we will fire you." Good lord, now that is a great example of tolerated speech if I ever saw one.

They are telling is we cannot live our lives freely and openly because it might piss them off... wonderful. According to them I need to have a disclaimer on my blog that explains that everything on my blog is purely my opinion and has nothing to do with them. That should be implicit, but meh. And that only applies if I say something about them. Hell I talk about it all the time, but I won't say who it is.

Either way, this is yet another example of "tolerated speech" and a great example of there being no such thing as freedom of speech.
