Treasury Direct

This government run site is pretty cool, love the idea, I am learning how to use it but I have a few complaints about it. First thing is, the site itself is not friendly, it is actually more hardcore than a banking site in terms of login security and the session itself. However I have found myself kicked out of the site more than 3 times in a single session easily because the links on the site would be broken or there would be a technical problem of sorts.
This site is a little short of irritating. It is fantastic because it let's me purchase government securities rather easily, but it doesn't explain any of them well enough where it counts. For example I bought a 4 week bill at 0% by mistake, I wasn't sure how to check the current interest rate on the bill before buying. After doing some digging I figured it out but too little too late. This is a good example of why the site isn't that great. I should be told what I am buying before I buy it.
Another example is EE and I Savings Bonds. When you are purchasing them there is no information on the rate of return and worst of all it doesn't tell you this juicy piece of information:
Savings Bonds cannot be redeemed until after a year (12 Months) and if you redeem them before 5 Years you lose 3 Months of your current interest.
Geeeee... that is something I would like to know BEFORE buying a savings bond. I had to dig around the site in order to find that information along with the goddamn rate of return.
So yes, great site for purchasing government backed securities. Terrible site for logic. I give them a 5/10 rating, but B+ for effort. If you want someone to use your site without pulling their hair out you should seriously consider doing some QA with real Americans first. Not gubbment drones. That is what feels like happened here.
